NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the New York Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
This position is located in an Air National Guard Wing, Command and Control Section (Command Post) of a C-5 or C-17 Strategic Airlift Wing.
OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: STATEWIDE
STATEWIDE: ALL MILITARY TECHNICIANS IN THE NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD, ALL MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD (INCLUDES AGR).
The section supports wing airlift missions involving U. S. Air Force (USAF), U. S. Navy (USN), U. S. Army (USA), U. S. Marine Corp (USMC), Army National Guard (ARNG), Air National Guard (ANG), and Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) units involving numerous types of military exercises, world wide contingencies and training missions. Provides support for humanitarian airlift for state, federal, and foreign government agencies. The command post plays an integral part in mission execution involving aircraft and aircrews, as well as maintains contact with aircrews during the mission. The primary purpose is to effectively manage, direct and oversee the operation of command and control processes at the wing command post. Employee makes assignments; implements mission changes, ensures the work of the command post is carried out in an efficient and timely manner, and oversees all command and control training programs. Serves as the command andc ontrol subject matter expert for all wing activities. In addition, has primary responsibility to manage the wing's Status of Resources and Training Systems (SORTS) program.
