Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth. Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth.


Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans.


Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, and the Command.


Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events.


Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect and reports as directed.


Participates in program evaluation using designated instruments such as programmatic rating scales, risk assessment tools (as required) self-inspection materials and national accreditation tools.


Completes designated training requirements and tracks and records completed training on own Individual Development Plan (IDP).


Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies.


Performs other related duties as assigned.


This is a Nonappropriated Fund position with FLEXIBLE hours. 
Flexible positions will be scheduled between 0-40 hours per week dependent upon the needs of the organization. There are no guaranteed hours for flexible positions.

Candidate Must:

1. Must be 18 years of age at time of appointment.

2. Possess a high school diploma, college transcripts or GED certificate.

3. Possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in the English language.

4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, and stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.

5. Able to work daily from 0530 to 1800.

6. Documentation of good mental and physical health and freedom of communicable diseases.

7. Satisfactory completion (no convictions of child abuse, molestation, neglect, or battering, or drug related offenses) of Local and National Background Checks.


All required supporting documents (High School Diploma, GED Certificate, or College Transcripts, DA Form 3433-2, DA Form 3433-1, PCS Orders, Marriage License and DD214 (as applicable) must be submitted prior to appointment.

Conditions of employment:


1. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

2. Satisfactory complete an employment verification check.

3. Successfully complete all required background checks to include a health screening.

Conversion of employment category (from Flex to RPT/RFT) may be accomplished without further competition in accordance with AR 215-3.

There is no limit to the number of times military spouse preference may be applied for non-continuing positions (flexible/temporary). To claim Military Spouse Preference you must have been married to the sponsor prior to the reporting date on the orders.
