The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

About the Position:  This position will be located at WRNMMC in Bethesda, MD, with the Director for Medicine, Dept of Medicine, Nephrology.

You will perform a combination of receptionist, record keeping and miscellaneous clerical duties associated with the reception, admission, treatment and disposition of patients within a medical treatment facility. Answer a multiple line phone system. Enter, manipulate and /or retrieve information and data from various health care systems such as the Composite Health Care System. Transcribe physician and nursing orders. Complete various patient request forms for for blood work, consults, and other requests, as required. Use automated information system to schedule, maintain, coordinate patient appointments with other clinics, and monitor patient appointments. Keep abreast of appointment schedules by maintaining close contacts with clinical personnel. Receive and/or interview patients for personal data and other information necessary to complete a variety of clinical record forms for processing admission and disposition of patients. Respond to emergency calls, and notify emergency medical personnel. Communicate with associated parties during emergency related operations. Responsible for the clerical duties inherent to the inprocessing, care, and outprocessing of outpatients.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Typical examples of such work include: working in a medical treatment facility scheduling appointments, documenting patient information, receiving patients and visitors (in person or telephonically), and operating computerized programs to perform duties such as entering/modifying/retrieving patient medical records and to schedule appointments.

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position requires the incumbent be a qualified typist, being able to type 40 words per minute. 

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level ofcompetency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
