This position is located in Ginnie Mae’s Office of Enterprise Data & Technology Solutions  which is  located at Potomac Office Center, 550 12th Street, SW, 3rd Floor, Washington, DC 20024 within walking distance to great restaurants, museums and the National Mall.  HUD Headquarters is conveniently located at L'Enfant Plaza Metro Stop and is within walking distance to Ginnie Mae, great restaurants, museums, and the National Mall.  There is also a fitness center, childcare center, credit union, and other work-life conveniences that are available to Ginnie Mae employees at the HUD Headquarters location.

As an IT Specialist (Network), you will:
- Configure and optimize network infrastructure equipment
- Review, manage, and recommend optimized connectivity between Ginnie Mae managed Data Centers, and manage the enterprise’s networking technologies.
- Work in partnership with project teams, manage host data center personnel, and internal consultants and contractors to understand business objectives and define requirements to ensure network designs are aligned with technology planning and network standards and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively to resolve complex network infrastructure challenges and diagnosing and resolving difficult network problems. Serve as the point of contact for network issues to ensure effective and timely resolution.

Specialized Experience:

You must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:

- Planning, organizing and coordinating enterprise-wide network infrastructure activities in a distributed LAN/WAN environment.
- Completing environmental analysis and performing configuration changes to improve network performance and coverage.
- Operations, maintenance, management and support of LAN/WAN and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Managing and completing IT assessments, network assessments, security assessments, and technology audits for compliance.
- Managing, maintaining and supporting infrastructure for software development teams.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

Notes: The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Better Qualified:  Applicants possessing a background that demonstrates a satisfactory level of the evaluation criteria.
Qualified (Good):  Applicants possessing the basic qualifications with general knowledge, skills and abilities.

Qualified preference-eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10% or more will be listed at the top of the highest category.
