Position Location: 165th Logistics Readienss Squadron, 165 AW, Savannah IAP, GA.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP): Acceptance of a Federal Excepted technician position of over 179 days in length will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP).

Type of Appointment: This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent dual-status, position which requires Georgia Air National Guard membership.

Job Summary: This position is located in the Small Air Terminal Section of  Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, ANG Aviation Wing. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Relocation Incentive: Relocation incentive is not authorized.

Background Check: Selectee may, at the option of the agency, be required to submit to criminal, credit history, and general background checks which will be evaluated by the agency prior to a final offer of employment and access into the Georgia National Guard Federal Technician or Active Guard/Reserve program. 

National Guard Membership: This position requires military membership. It is designated for Georgia Air National Guard Enlisted incumbent only. In accordance with ANG regulations, incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish Air Cargo Specialist Supervisor functions in support of programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training and readiness missions.

As  a member of a unit of the Georgia Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Georgia Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.

General Experience: Applicant must have experience which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

Specialized Experience:  Applicant must have at least 36 months specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.  Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.  Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.  Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the Selecting Official based on the following KSAs considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Knowledge of Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC) functions and operation sufficient to plan, coordinate, facilitate, and expedite on-time movement of air cargo in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment (MHE) utilized in moving cargo within the air terminal and to transport cargo to and from the aircraft (i.e., 4-10K forklifts, 25-60K aircraft loaders, etc.).
  • Knowledge of and ability to receive, warehouse, process, and categorize cargo and to process related paperwork.
  • Skill related to learning aircraft design, configuration, and limitations; obtain maximum utilization of space using automated programs such as The Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES).
  • Ability to direct and control drop zone operations and analyze and determine causes in malfunctions relating to aerial drops.

 

 


Other Requirements: For positions requiring  the operation of motor vehicles, selectee must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

For positions requring a security clearance (Secret or Top  Secret), selectee must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

National Guard Compatibility:  Once an applicant is selected and prior to being placed in the technician position, the selectee must be assigned to the 165th Logistics Readiness Squadron unit in the Georgia Air National Guard as an Enlisted member in AFSC: 2T2XX.

Rank inversion is strictly prohibited.

Wear of the Air Force uniform as prescribed by AFR/NGB/GA NGR is required for incumbent of this position.  Acceptance of this position constitutes concurrence with this requirement as a condition of employment.

Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the government's expense, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligiblity for employment.

Certificate of Medical Examination: will be used to determine the fitness and eligibility for employment.  Upon review of results, the Human Resources Officer will approve selection, require additional medical information, or find selectee medically disqualified for employment and withdraw said offer.
