INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). FORMER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Former Federal Employees are required to indicate whether they received a Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) buyout in their previous employment with the Federal government, and are required to submit a copy of the applicable Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) regarding the VSIP. The majority of individuals, who accept reemployment with the Federal government within 5 years of receiving the VSIP amount, must repay the gross amount of the separation pay prior to reemployment.


SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  This position performs combinations of the following tasks which are typical, but not necessarily all inclusive, independently with minimal supervision. 

·   Grounds and Building Maintenance:  Mows and trims vegetation; clears snow and ice from walkways; ensures the grounds of the Agency are clean removing garbage and debris; and monitors Agency buildings for necessary maintenance.

·   Carpentry work: Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs and modifies wood, composite and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product.

·   Plumbing work: Removes, cleans, replaces, packs and seals defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems; and also hooks up to install systems such as water heaters, disposal units and faucets.

·   Electrical work: Performs various electrical services from work orders, wiring diagrams, or oral instructions; layout and placement of circuitry, fixtures, and controls; and types of wiring, parts, and equipment to be installed.

·   Heating and cooling work:  Maintains heating and cooling systems for the Agency buildings and residences assessing repair needs and repairing such systems.

·   Painting work: Performs standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. Prepares surfaces to be painted by sanding and wire brushing; and thin, stir, and mix coating materials according to specific directions.

·   Welding work: Makes minor repairs on machinery and equipment which require a minimal skill in both gas and electric welding.

·   Property Inventory: Assists with property inventory which involves locating and documenting property on the Agency Inventory.

·   Fleet Management: Assists with the management of the Agency’s fleet which involves monitoring and arranging regular maintenance, monitoring usage and completing utilization reports, and arranging major repairs.
