Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
-Experience in monitoring the quality of processes that impact risk, competency of staff, appropriateness of care, and efficiency of the health care delivery system and the infection control program.
-Experience in coordinating, preparing, record keeping, and reporting of significant findings related to the quality of medical care and infection control practices.
-Experience in establishing a departmental performance improvement plan based upon required and recommended standards of care. Ensuring patient care, infection control, and employee healthcare practices are developed and reviewed.
-Experience in recognizing the need for investigation of infectious diseases and directs and conducts surveillance activities using epidemiologic principles to identify and control disease that may spread to inmates, staff, and community.
-Experience in auditing medical records for appropriateness of medical care including reviewing medical records for inmates in the infectious disease clinic who have known or suspected communicable diseases.
Combination of Education & Experience: A combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.

Applicants must have experience working in an infection control program as it relates to:
-Prevention of exposure to infectious diseases; administration of vaccinations; reduction in the transmission of infectious agents; containment of infectious outbreaks; and evaluation of infection prevention and control programs. Applicants must clearly address this experience in their resume to be found qualified.
Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Your application will be evaluated and rated under DOJ's Category Rating and Selection Procedures. Your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether you meet the job qualifications listed on this announcement. If you are qualified for this job, your resume and supporting documentation will be compared to your responses provided to the online assessment questionnaire. Your application will then be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Candidates within the top quality category and who are eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veteran preference eligibles.
