The Recent Graduate Program is a one-year program that targets individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs.  Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, one-year career development program.  Throughout the program, you will participate in formal training, job assignments and receive a mentor to develop competencies applicable to BEA's mission and needs.  This position also has the opportunity for permanent appointment upon successful completion of program. 
This vacancy is for an Accountant Recent Graduate position in the Office of Financial Services, Administrative Services Division, located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC.
The incumbent will serve as a staff member of the Budget Finance Section, Office of Financial Services within the Administrative Services Division. This position entails use of government accounting records, appropriation law, and general best practices in budget execution & formulation.  The individual will provide data analysis which leads to effective use of funds by performing data collection & analysis; tracking transactions, reconciling & verifying; preparing status of funds reports;  providing estimates of expenditures and personnel costs for year-end close & formulation.  The candidate will work independently and in groups to ensure maximum availability & utilization of funds and achieve goals. BEA has been ranked by its employees as one of the top federal agencies for which to work.  It has a dynamic and motivated staff, and encourages professional growth.  BEA has an unparalleled location in the heart of downtown D.C., only blocks from the White House and within walking distance to three Metro lines.  The Penn Quarter, Logan and Dupont Circles, and the Kennedy and Verizon Centers are all within walking distance.  This location provides for a unique balance of intellectual pursuit during the day and wealth of cultural and social activities after work.
Relocation expenses WILL NOT be paid.

Salaries shown for this vacancy include locality pay.  Applicants interested in relocating to a different geographic location should be aware that their salary is subject to change.


The individual selected for this position will:
Manage work efficiently, document/improve procedures and controls, prepare apportionment/allotment information.  Perform budget execution/formulation operations, estimates and analyses. Develop annual budget operating plans.  Perform measurements and develop reports.  Develop IAAs (revenue) & prepare IPACs; and prepare AOCs and PAOCs, payment review/track/reconcile.
