This vacancy is for an Accountant position in the Office of Financial Services, Administrative Services Division, located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC.  The incumbent will serve as a staff member of the Budget Finance Section, Office of Financial Services within the Administrative Services Division. This position entails use of government accounting records, appropriation law, and general best practices in budget execution & formulation.  The individual will provide data analysis which leads to effective use of funds by performing data collection & analysis; tracking transactions, reconciling & verifying; preparing status of funds reports;  providing estimates of expenditures and personnel costs for year-end close & formulation.  The candidate will work independently and in groups to ensure maximum availability & utilization of funds and achieve goals.

This position is in the competitive service. 

One year probationary period may be required. 

Relocation expenses WILL NOT be paid. 

This is a non-bargaining unit position. 

The Full Promotion Potential of this position is: ZA-03. 

If this position is filled at a level below the full performance level, the selectee may be promoted without further competition.  This implies no promise or guarantee of a promotion.

The individual selected for this position will: 

Major Duty 1:   Manage work efficiently, document/improve procedures and controls, prepare apportionment/allotment information; 

Major Duty 2:  Perform budget execution/formulation operations, estimates and analyses; 

Major Duty 3:  Develop annual budget operating plans; 

Major Duty 4:  Perform measurements and develop reports; 

Major Duty 5:  Develop IAAs (revenue) & prepare IPACs; and prepare AOCs and PAOCs, payment review/track/reconcile.
