Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki has announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will be adding approximately 1,600 mental health clinicians – to include nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers as well as nearly 300 support staff to its existing workforce.

Duties

The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is recruiting for one full-time staff psychologist.

 

The position will involve working in the area of Compensation and Pension. The incumbent psychologist will provide expert Mental Health diagnostic and evidence-based assessments to Veterans served by the VA Medical Center’s Compensation and Pension Service.  The incumbent psychologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a collegial and collaborative environment and will establish and maintain professional relationships within the Medical Center. The incumbent psychologist will also have some administrative responsibilities relating to performance and other outcome measures aimed at enhancing assessment services.  Licensure at the national and state level are required for this position.
