The Pathways Program is designed to attract students in a wide variety of educational institutions (high school, home-school programs, vocational and technical, undergraduate and graduate) with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school. This program exposes students to jobs in the Federal civil service by providing meaningful development work at the beginning of their career, before their careers paths are fully established.

As a Student Trainee (Administrative Support) you will:

Perform work assignments in support of general office administrative or office operations.

Apply typing skills and knowledge of limited range of functions and procedures used in word processing software to perform duties.

Create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print variety of correspondences, reports and documents.

For the GS-2, Applicants must have completed high school or GED diploma before selection. Graduates must provide verification of acceptance into a bachelor's, vocational or associate program for the fall 2014 school year.
For the GS-3, Applicants must have completed 1 academic year of undergraduate education in an accredited institution.
For the GS-4, Applicants must have completed 2 academic years of undergraduate education in an accredited institution.


Foreign Education:  If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.  For further information, visit:

Conditions of Employment:
