This program exposes students to jobs in the Federal civil service by providing meaningful developmental work at the beginning of their career, before their career paths are fully established.

These positions are located within various organizations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

As a Student Trainee (Epidemiology Assistant) you will:

Assist senior level epidemiologists/statisticians in conducting statistical research projects focused on the emerging public health issues and problems.

Assist in the preparation of research data for presentations.

For the GS-5, applicants must have successfully completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

For the GS-6, applicants must have successfully completed at least 6 months of graduate education in an accredited institution in a major field or study specific to this position.

For the GS-7, applicants must have successfully completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. Provisions for superior academic achievement (S.A.A) can be found at:

Undergraduates who expect to graduate in the Spring of 2014 must provide school acceptance letter verifying their student status prior to entering on duty.

Conditions of Employment:
