MASSACHUSETTS AIR NATIONAL GUARD

TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION :  As allowed by OPM guidelines, the Massachusetts Air National Guard follows a three tier advertisement process.  The three tier process will be as follows:

 

Tier I: All current MA ANG tenure 1 and 2 technicians and MA ANG permanent AGRs

Tier II: All current MA ANG members, to include tenure 3 and tenure 0 technicians, traditional guardsmen, and temporary AGRs

Tier III: All individuals eligible for immediate enlistment into the MA ANG

***This is an indefinite position, tenure 3, with a time limit determined by the needs of the agency.  Any permanent military technician who is selected for this position will become tenure 3.  The selectee will receive the same benefits and entitlements as the tenure 1 employee, but will be considered tenure 3 for purposes of reduction in force.  If a permanent resource becomes available, incumbent  may be converted to a permanent appointment without competition.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.   This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.  If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Massachusetts Air National Guard recruiter at (508) 743-0291 before applying for this position.

This position is located at Otis ANGB, MA at the 102nd Intelligence Wing, Wing Commander’s Staff in the Office of the Inspector General.  This position will function as the Wing’s primary officer for the commander’s inspection program and will be in charge of all facets of the Air Force Inspection System (AFIS) for the 102nd Intelligence Wing.  This position will prepare the wing for all unit inspections, and develop scenarios for all unit exercises as part of an exercise evaluation team.  This person will coordinate with all subordinate units in accomplishment of their unit self-assessment program and liaison between gaining MAJCOMs for all groups within the wing.  This person will be the team lead for the unit’s Wing Inspection Team (WIT) and advise commanders at Inspection Management Boards.  This member will coordinate all database training for AFIS functions for the wing and ensure training.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Ability to understand legal provisions, regulations, and administrative procedures and to apply them to specific situations.  Ability to analyze narrative and numerical data, draw conclusions, and make decisions.  Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training involving a thorough knowledge of inspection, investigation, enforcement, and compliance methods and techniques, special processes, test and performance requirements; and skill in developing plans and programs.  Experience possessed by an expert in the area of inspection, investigation, enforcement, and compliance specialization able to give technical direction to otherwise competent workers.  Experience determining compliance when difficult and questionable interpretations are found.  Experience which required significant and concrete work accomplishments (i.e. special projects, working groups, or detailed inspection or investigation assignments) involving individual or organizational contacts.  Experience in dealing with management principles and supervisory responsibility for the function required by type of position to be filled and the organization involved.
