JOB SUMMARY:

About the Position: THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION NTE 30 SEP 2014 TO ACCOMODATE A SEASONAL INCREASE IN WORKLOAD. This position is located at the Jennings Randolph Lake Project which straddles Mineral County, West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland at the headwaters of the North Branch of the Potomac River. Missions of the project include flood control, water quality, water supply, and recreation.

You will serve as a Laborer (MVO) performing a variety of heavy laboring tasks to include frequent use of heavy hand tools and power equipment. You will load, unload, separate, stack, and carry materials, supplies, and packages weighing from 80 to 100 pounds.  You will lift, move, and carry very heavy objects such as furniture, equipment, supplies. You will maintain and account for all types of equipment and tools. You will operate heavy hand tools and power equipment such as walking-type power mowers, riding mowers, snow blowers, edger's, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, mechanical spreaders, handsaws, chainsaws, hatchets, picks, shovels, and clippers to perform tasks such as mowing lawns; trimming tree limbs; landscaping work in hard, compacted soil, grading and sloping; clearing small trees and bushes. You will serve as a motor vehicle operator on an as needed basis to pick up and haul trash.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT: Exerts extremely heavy physical effort, constantly lifting and carrying very heavy objects weighting 80 to 100 pounds (36 to 45 kilograms) or more, or lifting and moving similar weights through confined spaces. Subject to continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds or weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts, scrapes, or more serious injuries. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes to avoid possible hazards in the work area.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    4. Required to pass a pre-employment physical.

     

    5. Required to participate in the Department of Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program to include passing a urinalysis drug testing prior to appointment and passing random urinalysis drug testing thereafter.
