Perform repairs to buildings and quarters.  Construct, install, repair and replace, and refinish items such as frame structures, roofing, siding, flooring, sheetrock, doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, windows, trim and cabinets.  Applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers.  Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.  Perform plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, nipples, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flush valves, faucets and various types of pipe and copper lines.  Check, troubleshoot and analyze electrical circuitry using proper equipment to measure; current, voltage and resistance.  Install, repair and replace electrical systems components.  Utilize a full range of hand and power tools common to the building trades.  Incidental operator of motor vehicles, trucks, trailers, tractors, skid steer loaders, backhoe, etc.  This work is performed under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed.
Physical requirements: Required to frequently lift or handle objects or material up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury.  Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.  Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding.  Exposed to dust, dirt, wind and rain.  May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment, paints, solvents, etc.

This position requires that you operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.A valid State driver’s license is required. As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit a completed GSA Form 3607, Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record.You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver’s licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.If you are tentatively selected for employment in this position, you will be required to complete GSA Form 3607 and submit the above State issued documents.Your employment, after your tentative selection, will be contingent upon receipt of these documents in a timely manner and that those documents establish, to the satisfaction of the selecting official, that you possess a valid driver’s license.

Position is subject to shift rotation, night, early morning, holiday and/or weekend work.
Work is performed outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions.
Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking over rough and uneven terrain, standing, working in cramped positions and climbing. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.
Employment may be extended or terminated at any time due to fluctuations in funding levels, project needs, employee performance, or other considerations.

Work requires hiking in a mountainous area (elevations above 6,000 feet) over a rough and uneven terrain with backpack/tools up to several miles in a day.

A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

This position provides for rehire eligibility on the conditions that the selectee(s) serve at least 31 consecutive calendar days and receive a fully successful (or better) final performance evaluation.
