This position is located within the Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA), Public Safety, Emergency Management Department, NSA Saratoga Springs, NY. This position is responsible for receiving and processing calls from military civilians, and the general public. The incumbent provides police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) dispatching for the protection of life and property on board the installation and its Area of Responsibility (AOR).

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.   Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:  1) operating radio communication equipment associated with dispatching emergency services; 2) receiving incoming telephone or alarm systems calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service; 3) familiarity with standard police and fire protection/prevention techniques/practices relating to various types of emergencies.  OR

Successfully completed four full years of education above the high school level at an accredited college or university. (Note: See information under Education)   OR

Have a combination of experience as described under letter A above and education as described under letter B above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement.   The level of the course work must have been equivalent to at least the junior- and senior- year levels of a baccalaureate program.

This position is a full-time term appointment not to exceed 14 months.   Term appointments may be extended up to 1 year at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.   This position may be terminated at any time before the established not-to-exceed date.


This position is a rotating shift position and employees may be required to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

This position is categorized as CAT 5 personnel. All First and Emergency Responders who are U.S. Military Personnel, DOD Civilians, and /or Contractor Personnel are considered Critical or Essential personnel. Emergency Call-taking and Dispatch Staff are Critical or Essential Personnel.

Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely using radios and telephone equipment.
