MASSACHUSETTS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 

This position is open to  all current members of the Massachusetts Army National Guard or those eligible to immediately transfer into the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

 

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.   This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.  If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Massachusetts Army National Guard recruiter at (888) 301-3103, ext. 7398, before applying for this position.

***This is an indefinite position, tenure 3, with a time limit determined by the needs of the agency.  Any permanent military technician who is selected for this position will become tenure 3.  The selectee will receive the same benefits and entitlements as the tenure 1 employee, but will be considered tenure 3 for purposes of reduction in force.  If a permanent resource becomes available, incumbent  may be converted to a permanent appointment without competition.

The purpose of this position is to function as a logistics specialist in the organization and to serve as the organizational Property Book Officer (PBO) Team Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) responsible for routine accomplishment and oversight of property accountability functions. Work involves performing planning and coordinating logistical support activities to provide the money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support a specified mission at the time and place they are needed.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training involving the detailed knowledge of property accountability functions. Knowledge of property book operations in the areas of inventory management, storage management, equipment coordination and supply management. Knowledge of property accountability requirements sufficient to function as the technical authority for the establishment and maintenance of property accountability records of all non-expendable items within the organization. Knowledge of required logistical actions sufficient to develop and maintain plans for full or partial deployment and redeployment. Knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to retrieve, review, and analyze logistical data on an adhoc basis or through recurring and specialized reports.


Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience – A maximum or 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience. The education must have been in fields directly (i.e., business administration, logistics management, traffic management etc.)

If you accept an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) position or a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent or Indefinite position after 25 February 2010 where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment, your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment.
