About the Agency

The Pathways Internship Program (IP) targets students accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited/qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis. (Applicants who do not meet the definition of “student”, will not be considered). Internships can be seasonal (spring, summer, fall) or year round.  At the successful conclusion of this program, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a GS (0101) Social Scientist with a promotion potential to the GS-12.  Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules.

It is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that the agency will decide to opt for conversion.

1. Respond to questions from and/or provide assistance to the internal/external data user community.                               2.  Maintain and update database of research projects.
3.  Manages multiple projects and ensures compliance with researcher training requirements.

Under the immediate supervision of a higher grade Social Science Analyst or Statistician, performs a variety of assignments and projects designed to train the incumbent in basic sociological, political science, or combination of other social research work including its application to Bureau programs, as well as to provide incumbent with a basic understanding, and some experience in the practical application of statistical theories and principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have completed at least 1 full academic year of post-high school study.
Also must be a student currently enrolled in college pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.  Certificate programs must be one academic year in duration.
You must submit a copy of your transcripts prior to the closing of this announcement.  In addition to submitting your transcripts, you may also submit enrollment verification documentation if your transcripts does not properly document current enrollment. FAILURE IN DOING SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF CONSIDERATION.

Current students in college pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.  Certificate programs must be one academic year in duration.

Must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the internship.
