The VA Central Western Massachusetts Health Care System is seeking a proactive and innovative physician to be Chief of Medicine and Service Line Manager for Primary Care. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and directing outpatient primary medical care (adult internal medicine), and select medical subspecialties. Primary Care in the VA is currently being redesigned to incorporate the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Model. All our teams are currently fully staffed and we are currently in the implementation phase.

 

This is a full-time position vacancy for a Local Service Line Manager (LSLM) in Primary Care. The primary care service currently consists of 140 employees in 6 locations; Northampton campus, Springfield Outpatient Clinic, Pittsfield Outpatient Clinic, Greenfield Outpatient Clinic, Worcester Outpatient Clinic, and Fitchburg Outpatient Clinic. The LSLM is responsible for the direct or indirect supervision of all employees in the service, both providers and others, including MDs and NP/PAs in primary care and subspecialties as well as the Medical officers of the day (MOD).

 

NOTE: THE LSLM MAY BE PLACED AT WORCESTER, SPRINGFIELD, AND/OR NORTHAMPTON BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE FACILITY. THE LSLM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MEDICAL CARE ACROSS ALL VA CWM HCS SITES. In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements:  

·         U.S. Citizen

·         Must be proficient in written and spoken English

·         Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine

·         Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia

 

Preferred Experience: Board certified internal or family medicine, medical supervision of a complex organization and qualifications suitable for academic appointment at our medical school affiliate
