This position is located in the Naval Historical Collection, the archives and special collections division of the Naval War College Library.  The division is responsible for acquiring, accessioning, arranging, cataloging, preserving, and making accessible the records of the College and its manuscripts, oral histories, photographs, and historical collections.


  • Responsible for planning digital projects, creating metadata for digital objects, digitalizing collections, and for maintaining and preserving digital records according to professional standards.
  • Responsible for creating collection-level MARC records and for entering finding aids for collections in EAD (Encoded Archival Description) and other emerging data formats.
  • Work with the Information Resources Department (IRD) to create and maintain a web presence for the Naval Historical Collection on the Naval War College Library’s website.
