This position is located at the Voice of America's Africa Division in Washington, DC. The incumbent serves as an International Broadcaster in the Hausa Service with responsibility for managing the news, entertainment and lifestyle programming and building the social media community of the VOA mobile site for the social media market.

INTRODUCTION TO AGENCY: The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency, is an exciting, multi cultural organization that encompasses all U.S. civilian international broadcasting. The BBG is comprised of the Voice of America, which delivers high quality, multimedia programming in 44 languages to audiences worldwide; the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti); the International Broadcasting Bureau, which provides transmission, administrative, and other support services; and three grantee organizations - Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty; the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free Asia. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
~Exercises sound journalistic judgment to determine content news worthiness, appropriateness and balance.
~Oversees daily updates to mobile site.
~Analyzes metrics and develops expertise in content performance.
~Develops and executes programming strategies to maximize traffic and user engagement.
~Develops and executes social media strategies to maximize traffic and user engagement.
~Translates/adapts a significant proportion of English language scripts into Hausa. The original English material ranges from news, correspondent reports, news analyses, commentaries, summaries of America and international editorial opinion to reports dealing with economic, cultural and scientific subjects.
