The Student Trainee in Social Work Service is responsible for filing paperwork.  The trainee is responsible for jobs using a

documents center.  For example, duplication, faxing, scanning, and printing. The trainee needs to be able to type at least 35 wpm, responsible for phone triage, taking messages and an understanding of what is urgent and requires immediate referral.  Data entry into a data base will be required.  Special projects regarding Social Work will be assigned by supervisors. Other duties that may arise are collecting the mail, scheduling meetings, stuffing folders and running general errands.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:  Days (Monday - Friday) - 30 hours biweekly or flexible depending on student availability

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

  1. Must have successfully completed a high school degree program or equivalent and;
  2. Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualified educational institution

   on a full or half-time basis at an accredited college or university (minimum 6 semester hours);

   3.  Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher while in the Internship Program.

Eligiblity Requirements: An intern may be converted non-competitively from an Internship Program to a term or

permanent position in the competitive service, however, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed.  To be eligible for

conversion, an intern must have completed at least 640 hours of work experience while enrolled as a full time or half time degree seeking student, completed the education requirement from a qualifiying institution, receive a favorable recommendation

by an official of the agency and meet the qualification requirements for the position to which being converted.  The Pathways

Program participant will enter into a written Participant Agreement that clearly identifies expectations, a general description of

duties, evaluation procedures, work schedules and minimum eligibility requirements for conversion to term or permanent positions

in the competitive service.
