This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. 
The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school.  The Internship provides manager's a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements.  It also provides the student with work experience directly related to the curriculum studies or career goals while offering eligibility for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion.  For more information on Internship opportunities within the Department of Veterans Affairs, please visit


The incumbent is an IT student trainee with the OI&T Service located at the VA Boston Healthcare System. He/she will serve as a student trainee and will perform work under a progressive training program in cooperation with the faculty at the appropriate college or university.  The student will work in the Desktop Section of OI&T and provide IT customer support. The incumbent will carry out duties to support the medical center staff, and perform assignments that assist the OI&T office and senior personnel.   The employee will provide a variety of IT customer support services. The work will involve the planning and delivery of technical support services including troubleshooting, installation, inventory, removal, and moves of equipment.  He/she will ensure the help desk application software and the asset tracking information is accurate. Work Schedule: Full time; Monday – Friday; Work schedule will be set between 8:00am - 5:00pm.
