JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
This position is located with the US Army Engineer District, Albuquerque Operations Division, Lake Operations Branch, Abiquiui Dam Project Office, Abiquiui, New Mexico.

Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program.

The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.

Positions are open to: Current students in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree within the local commuting area.

You would perform a variety office automation and clerical assignments in support of the organization such as, using office automation equipment to produce correspondence, reports, calendars and/or charts. You would compose routine correspondence from brief notes and use simple editing functions to check accuracy, greet visitors, answer phones and route mail.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  General experience is defined as: I possess six (6) months of general experience. General experience includes reception duties (e.g., answering telephones, greeting and referring visitors); general clerical duties (e.g., receive and distribute incoming mail, maintain paper filing or record systems); operate standard office equipment (e.g., telephone, computer keyboard, fax, photocopier, calculator, etc.). This experience may have been gained in any of the following fields: child care, office, customer service, volunteer organizations, restaurants, retail and other like businesses.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following area:

•Complete their degree or certificate requirements
•Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
•Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and;
•Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
