JOB SUMMARY:

You will serve as a Emergency Services Dispatcher for the Directorate of Emergency Services performing the following duties:
• Receive emergency calls via various equipment and dispatch appropriate services
• Maintain log of calls and incidents, records time and supplementary information for emergency services
• Maintain office files

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  General experience is described as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
• Knowledge of Emergency Dispatching Services
• Skill in Operating Automation Equipment


Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Two years of education above high school from an accredited college or university. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
