Position Location: 116 Maintenance Operations Flight, Robins AFB, GA 31098

Type of Appointment: This is a fulltime, Excepted Permanent dual status position, which requires Georgia Air Natinal Guard membership.

Job Summary:  This position is located within an National Guard flying unit. Its purpose is to supervise and manage logistics staff functions consisting of the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC); Plans,Scheduling and Documentation (PS&D); Engine Management; Maintenance Training; Depot Level Repairables (DLR); Programs and Mobility; and Production Analysis/Data Base Management.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Relocation Incentive: Relocation incentive is not authorized.

Background Check: Selectee may, at the option of the agency, be required to submit to criminal, credit history, and general background checks which will be evaluated by the agency prior to a final offer of employment and access into the Georgia National Guard Federal Technician or Active Guard/Reserve program. 

National Guard Membership: This position requires military membership. It is designated for Georgia Air National Guard Enlisted incumbent only. In accordance with ANG regulations, incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish Supervisory Production Controller (Aircraft) functions in support of programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training and readiness missions.

As  a member of a unit of the Georgia Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Georgia Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.

The following list is not comprehensive but provides a snapshot of some of the duties that may be required of this position:

  • Coordinates and ensures timely development of weekly,

    monthly, and quarterly maintenance plans, flying schedules, and

    documentation of historical data.

  • Supervises and directs utilization of branch personnel.
  • Reviews and coordinates requests for cannibalization and

    local manufacture of material.

  • Interacts with maintenance activities and the training

    management function to establish a maintenance training program that

    ensures all personnel are qualified for their jobs, and that a balance

    of skills is maintained within the maintenance complex.

  • Allocates, assigns, and replaces vehicles within the

    maintenance complex according to need.

  • Controls the assignment and utilization of nontactical

    radios for the directorate.

  • Ensures that MOC coordinates and monitors maintenance

    requirements with all affected agencies.

General Experience: Applicant must have experience which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

Specialized Experience:  Applicant must have at least 36 months specialized experience in computations of cost data on labor and materials, buying materials or reviewing data with respect to man-hours, machine time, materials consumed, etc.  Experience with current automation support programs to input data, provide status of equipment, and monitor job order status, monitor work priorities, requisition repair parts, track repair parts status, etc.  Experience in supervising subordinate personnel, establishing work priorities, overseeing work in progress. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the Selecting Official based on the following KSAs considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise initiative in taking timely action to schedule and obtain required materials.
  • Knowledge of the organization and work procedures of the production activity.
  • Ability to formulate long range and immediate plans and programs relative to maintenance, modification, and repair of assigned equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate and ensure timely development of weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance plans, flying schedules, and documentation of historical data.
  • Ability to review and edit all performance reports, decorations, and awards for all assigned personnel.


For positions requring a security clearance (Secret or Top  Secret), selectee must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

National Guard Compatibility:  Once an applicant is selected and prior to being placed in the technician position, the selectee must be assigned to any unit in the Georgia Air National Guard as an  Enlisted member in AFSC: 2R090.

Rank inversion is strictly prohibited.

Wear of the Air Force uniform as prescribed by AFR/NGB/GA NGR is required for incumbent of this position.  Acceptance of this position constitutes concurrence with this requirement as a condition of employment.
