This position is located in the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Directorate for Epidemiology,Division of Hazard & Injury Data Systems, Data Intake and Injury Information Branch. The Division is responsible for the management, operations, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and quality control aspects of the injury data collection programs. Primary Branch functions are:
- coding, data entry, and quality control of data residing in CPSC's Risk Management System (CPSRMS) and Public Database including reports of harm submitted by consumers and others, reports from retailers and manufacturers, news reports, medical examiner reports, and death certificates;
- responding to outside requests for injury statistics and data from CPSC's injury data systems;
- notifying manufacturers, private labelers, and importers of reports of harm received by CPSC which involve their products; and
- providing customer support to users of CPSC's Business Portal.

The Supervisory Program Analyst serves as the Branch Chief for the Data Intake & Injury Information Branch in the Division of Hazard and Injury Data Systems, Directorate for Epidemiology. The Branch Chief plans and coordinates staff work assignments, manages time and attendance, evaluates staff performance, makes recommendations for incentive awards, and provides opportunities for training and professional development.
The Branch Chief ensures timely and standardized coding of consumer product-related incidents reports collected from a variety of sources in a range of formats. S/he oversees the evaluation of jurisdiction and eligibility for publication of incoming reports along with adjudicating claims of material inaccuracy.
The Branch Chief coordinates responses for requests for injury data applying analytical skills to develop algorithms for large datasets and conducting database searches to identify responsive records. S/he prepares documents and oral presentations to acquaint data users with the limitations of potential uses of Commission data.
The Branch Chief responds to inquiries from businesses concerning the use of CPSC’s business portal, procedural requirements for submitting comments and claims, and the business’ responsibilities and options in responding to incident and investigation reports.

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirements of the position within thirty (30) days of the closing date of this announcement. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience managing, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and the quality control of injury data collection programs.
There is no substitution for specialized
experience for this position.
Upon appointment, you may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
After the vacancy closes, we will review your application package to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
