Possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. III. Physiology, 413
Degree: in one of the basic animal sciences or physiology; or a related discipline or field of science that included at least 24 semester hours in the basic animal sciences, of which 10 semester hours were in animal physiology. (You must submit transcript at time of application submission)
Note: Evaluation of Education: Courses such as anatomy; cytology; invertebrate and vertebrate zoology; embryology; entomology; animal, dairy, and poultry husbandry; nutrition; genetics; and physiology may be used to meet the 24-semester-hour requirement in the basic animal sciences.
Courses in physiology, animal or human physiology, cellular physiology, or courses that were well oriented toward animal or human physiology, e.g., some advanced courses in biochemistry, are qualifying as animal physiology courses. Courses in related fields such as cytology and microbiology (including microbial physiology) may also be qualifying, provided the course work dealt directly with the application of scientific principles underlying animal physiology, or with the methodology and techniques applied in animal physiology work.
IV. Chemist, 1320
A. Possess a four year degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. (You must submit transcript demonstrating the required coursework at time of application submission. If your class does not clearly demonstrate the specified requirement of differential and integral calculus in the class title you must provide documentation that demonstrates the class work is equivalent).
B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (You must submit transcript demonstrating the required coursework at time of application submission. If your class does not clearly demonstrate the specified requirement of differential and integral calculus in the class title you must provide documentation that demonstrates the class work is equivalent).
GS-15: Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service, that included: managing/providing leadership direction to segments of a program related to regulatory scientific and compliance activities involving medical device products; writing policies related to regulatory science programs; and providing technical authoritative advice in resolving regulatory and scientific issues related to medical product reviews.
