JOB SUMMARY:

The Office of Financial Research (OFR or Office) is a new organization established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in the Treasury Department to provide data and analysis to the Financial Stability Oversight Council (the Council) and its member agencies, improve the quality and transparency of financial information, conduct and sponsor research related to financial stability, and promote best practices in risk management.

Treasury Headquarters, the Departmental Offices, has responsibility for formulating policy and the overall management of the Department of the Treasury. The Office of Financial Research is recruiting to fill a key Supervisory IT Specialsit (DATAMGT) position. This position is in a small office with top staff members who work on a wide array of interesting subjects. As a Supervisory IT Specialist (DATAMGT), you will:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to assigned team members on all aspects of data management/administration program activities.
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of data management projects as assigned and coordinate assigned projects with other OFR teams involved as needed.
  • Ensure management is aware of project status, schedules, and measures of success for assigned projects.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the data management technologies and timeliness of data onboarding  as related to assigned projects.
  • Stay current with and adhering to best practices and industry recommended and federally mandated database security policies.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the OR-53 (GS-13) level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  1. Managerial experience directing data management/administration teams performing highly technical and specialized data management projects (preferably in a financial markets, banking regulatory, or wholesale banking environment); 
  2. Experience with (1) database management, (2) meta data standards and architecture, and (3) data architecture/ data modeling (4) data operations;
  3. Hands-on experience performing data administration, tuning, operations support, and management in a data warehousing or research environment;
  4. Experience supervising a subordinate staff; and serving as a principal advisor to a senior management official.
The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
