Work involves the overhaul of aircraft, including the disassembly, reassembly, and test phases of aircraft overhaul programs of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies, where the work requires substantive knowledge of the airframe and aircraft mechanical, pneudraulic, and/or electrical systems and their interrelationships. Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform the various aspects of disassembly, cleaning, lubricating or assembling of aircraft parts, components, or subassemblies. Experience in the use of various production shop equipment, hand tools, measuring devices, power tools and test equipment.
Applicants applying at the WS-10 level must have a minimum 36 months
of general and specialized experience or training using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs. Experience disassembling, cleaning, lubricating or assembling aircraft parts, components, or subassemblies. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components. Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
