AREA I:  All Excepted Technicians of the 177th Fighter Wing (FW)

AREA II:  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

AREA III:  All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.   Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only.   Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

Duties

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

 

DUTIES:Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, oil sampling.  Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.  May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.  Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.  Instructs, directs, and assigns maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members.
