Under the supervision of the Associate Nurse Executive (ANE) for the Community Living Center (CLC), the Clinical Nurse for Staff Development (CNSD) serves as a resource person for all unit level education for staff development, quality improvement activities and clinical needs and/or programs of assigned unit areas. The CNSD executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to the management of complex client care while adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice. The CNSD demonstrates leadership when providing nursing care or developing programs that will improve the delivery of nursing care and facilitates meeting target goals for long term care performance measures. 

The following duties are assigned to the CNSD in the CLC area:

1. Acts as a clinical and educational resource to the staff by identifying patient and staff learning needs and 

development of programs to meet those needs. 

2. Works with staff in the timely completion of all mandatory reviews/training, skills checklist and other competency reviews and updates.  Keeps the Nurse Managers and Associate Nurse Executive informed of progress.

3. Evaluates and documents staff education.  Provides feedback and makes recommendations for improvements.

4. Serves as a preceptor to new staff and mentors less experienced staff.

5. Effectively  collaborates with the nurse managers and staff to develop educational opportunities  based on findings from quality management activities.

6. Identifies need for research and facilitates use of evidence based research into sound nursing practice.

7. Facilitates staff learning and completion of clinical reminders to exceed target goals for identified performance measures.

8. Works collaboratively with other disciplines to improve outcomes in patient care and improve patient/staff satisfaction.

9. Provides input for regularly scheduled meetings with ANE, NM and staff for information sharing and problem-solving issues affecting patient care and staff learning needs.

 

 

Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.

Citizen of the United States. 

 

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:  Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) formerly known as The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 

 

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.  In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.   

 

Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

 

Current certification in BLS

 

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.  The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

BSN is required.

MSN preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) years of professional (RN) nursing experience is required.  

 

Prior professional (RN) nursing experience as a staff educator preferred.  

 

Two (2) years of professional (RN) Community Living Center or Long Term Care experience is strongly preferred.
