As a MAIL AND FILE CLERK (OA) you will:
- Assess work in progress and ensure timely release;
- Ensure paperwork is accurately and completely documented;
- Inspect checks released to ensure checks are pre-sorted in accordance with Post Office regulations;
- Adhere to frequently changing requirements to perform duties associated with checks destined for foreign locations; and
- Ensure daily payments that have been manually typed have been signed, recorded, and enclosed and that action is taken for release to Designated Agent or USPS.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
You must be a qualified typist or self-certify a typing skill of 40 w.p.m. Applications MUST include statement of typing speed. AND You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: performing a full range of mail or file functions that may include: processing incoming/outgoing mail into clearly indicated categories, operating and maintaining mail room equipment, batching, logging, and scanning documents, and filing materials in sequential order. OR --You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Education: Four (4) years of education above the high school level. (Please attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.) --You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
