The mission of IMLS is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement. We provide leadership through research, policy development, and grant making. IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nations 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.
This Grants Management Specialist (Program Officer/Senior Program Officer) is responsible for managing a variety of assigned grant programs, which are often characterized by such features as a large number of potential applicants; a need for extensive educational endeavors to acquaint potential applicants with the availability and requirements for grants; build and maintain a substantial network of professional contacts in the relevant library communities; responsible for developing and presenting proposals for changes in agency policies relating to the grant program; and carry out responsibilities of equivalent scope in administration of a key grant program. This is the position of a senior grants specialist in the discretionary grants program. The incumbent manages the administration of a grant portfolio. The position carries substantial responsibility for direction and administration of this program.
