Colorado National Guard Dual Status Technician Announcement Technicians are employed under the authority of Title 32 USC, Section 709, which states, in part, that technicians are to be employed in "the administration and training of the National Guard," and "the maintenance and repair of supplies issued to the National Guard."

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters—State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G-4), State Surface Maintenance Management Office.

Major Duties:

Exercises administrative and technical supervision over one or more surface maintenance facilities, e.g., CSMS, MATES,UTES and/or FMS.  Plans and schedules work to be accomplished by subordinates.   Sets and adjusts short-term priorities.   Assigns work in consideration of employee skills and mission requirements.   Rates subordinates' work performance.   Advises, counsels, or instructs employees on work and administrative matters.   Reviews quality and flow of materials and supplies required to support maintenance activities.   Confers with equipment users to resolve problems and ensures satisfaction.  Provides technical guidance to assigned maintenance activities through coordinated assistance or evaluation visits.   Visits assigned surface maintenance facilities on a regular basis to promote efficient operations and compliance with established standards.   Provides trip reports to document adherence to operating standards and unit performance.  Plans and develops schedules and agendas for shop meetings and responsible to coordinate details.  Oversees hazardous waste/industrial hygiene programs for maintenance facilities supervised.  Identifies special tools, test equipment requirements, and coordinates procurement as needed.   Provides technical guidance to supply and Class 9 (CL IX) functions.   May participate as a member of the Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) team.  Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE NOTE Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.  An applicants RESUME must provide in detail how they meet each specialized experience bullet listed below.  It must be documented with "from (mm/yy)" and "to (mm/yy)" dates  and description of the specialized experience.  DO NOT copy each bullet listed below word for word and place into your resume; you must describe your personal experience as it pertains to each bullet.  You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include this information in your resume (we will not make any assumptions regarding your experience).

You must have 36 months of Specialized Experience in EACH of the following (documented CLEARLY in your resume):

1.  Experience in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in designing projects or planning assignments.  

2. Experience using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, printing design layout, etc.

3. Experience working and serving as the contractor representative to ensure compliance with the contract scheduling and sequence of operations.

4. Experience coordinating work forces and resources and negotiating with management or clients concerning problems.

 


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience.  The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position (i.e. Engineering or Industrial Technology, construction etc.)

Military Requirements Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements.  Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.  Specific requirements are found in: references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables and your local Personnel section.

For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions.  Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full time positions or termination of their employment.
