The Attorney Advisor will work together with other members of the Enforcement Section in the prosecution of violations of the Magnuson-Stevens Act, the National Marine Sanctuaries Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act and other marine resource laws enforced by the Secretary of Commerce. In addition to prosecuting cases and working closely with NOAA's investigative agents, the Enforcement Section provides guidance on legislative and regulatory issues with enforcement implications, works with the Department of Justice on appropriate cases, trains Coast Guard and NOAA investigators and works with the state and tribal law enforcement personnel. The Enforcement Section also works closely with the Department of State to develop effective enforcement positions in the international arena to combat illegal fishing.
