In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for initial appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution.  If you are above the maximum entry age and have prior federal law enforcement coverage, you MUST submit an SF-50 to verify prior coverage.

Qualified Preference Eligible Veterans may be exempt from meeting the maximum age of 37.  Please refer to the Required Documents Section for the appropriate documentation to submit to validate veteran eligibility.


The incumbent is responsible for providing support, accountability, and security within the central supply area of a medical department. Responsible for the maintenance of the department inventory, supply distribution, control and recording of all medical supplies and equipment. Responsible for interpreting and keeping up-to-date on all BOP policies and procedures directly affecting the department. Orders, receives, loads, transports, catalogs, stocks, issues and distributes incoming materials. Coordinates the delivery of special supplies and equipment through vendors and other resources.

Maintains and conducts inventories, delivers supplies, keeps necessary records, follows policy and procedures governing the use of supplies and equipment, keeps statistics, maintains security of supplies and instruments. Maintains automated inventory database, daily supply logs and manual bin carding to assure supplies are reordered according to the needs of the institution. Maintains a system of perpetual inventory, accountability for all supplies, equipment and materials that pass through or remain within central supply's control. Tracks inventory when sent or distributed to the long term, behavioral health and ambulatory care units.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
