5. Position Information:
This is the full performance level for staff psychologists. The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) consist of three inpatient facilities located in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Livermore, plus 7 outpatient clinics in San Jose, Capitola, Monterey, Stockton, Modesto, Sonora, and Freemont. This position is located in the Mental Health Clinic (MHC) at the San Jose Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), located in San Jose, CA. The MHC provides a wide range of outpatient, general health services. There is a major emphasis for this position on the initial assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions. The incumbent also serves as the Coordinator of Mental Health services for a panel of MHC patients, insuring they are connected with and receiving the services outlined in their interdisciplinary treatment plan. He/she provides crisis intervention and other types of emergent mental health services and is involved in case management activities as needed. The incumbent also provides psychotherapy interventions using individual and group modalities, with an emphasis on evidence based practices.
