JOB SUMMARY:

Welcome to the Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation Activitiies at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  We proudly serve the Military Members, Retirees, DOD Civilians and Family Members in the surrounding area.

 

The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self radiant force.

 

Incumbent of this position must have knowledge and experience in applying principles of sports and fitness functional training, planning and administering military fitness tactical training programs in addition to a variety of other sports programs.

 

LOCATION:  MWR Sports Facilities, Fort Belvoir, VA.

 

THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION (40 HOURS) WITH BENEFITS.

Administers the conduct of the installations sports and fitness functional training programs. Works closely with sports professionals within the Army and other Services, as well as volunteers and contractors. Ensures the program adheres to current military and installation regulations, standard operating procedures, and protocol. Responsible for organizing, scheduling, and publicizing activities and programs, to include special events based upon customer interest, command directives and available resources. Develops and executes both an APF and NAF budget. Responsible for the daily operation of sports and fitness functional training programs, performs full range of supervisory duties.

Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of sports and fitness.  Experience in planning and administering military fitness tactical training programs. Experience in a fitness program that included a variety of individual and team sports.  Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade. Ability to make decisions IAW Army and DOD policies. Ability to generate and maintain effective relationships with outside agencies. Strong communication skills required. Ability to write various staff office documents. Knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc., required.


 

Conditions of Employment:

1. A one-year supervisory probationary period is required.

2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.

3. All required background checks of AR 215-3 must be successfully completed and maintained.  Satisfactory completion of National Agency Check with Inquiries will be initiated prior to appointment. 

4. Must be available to work holidays and weekends.

 

5. The following certifications are required:  CPR, First AID, AED, CSCS-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist  or TSAC-Tactical Strength and Conditioning, plus the CrossFit L1 certification.

 

6. Availability Date:   NLT 22 November 2013.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your resume will be evaluated by your experience demonstrating the ability to apply principles of sports and fitness functional training programs, knowledge in decision making IAW Army DOD policies, supervisory experience, communications skills, and computer knowledge.   Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.
