The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor has responsibility for the professional and administrative management of Outpatient Pharmacy and Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Programs at the Portland Division. The incumbent maintains an active, unrestricted pharmacist license and has full responsibility for managing and supervising all phases of Outpatient Pharmacy operations, Portland Division, including assignment of duties, development of performance standards, performance appraisals, recommendations for awards and when appropriate disciplinary action and the identification of continuing education and training needs.
The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor serves as a consultant within the Pharmacy Department and with health care staff in other Care Lines in evaluating health care delivery to patients. Incumbent assesses plans and coordinates activities to ensure proper coordination of care between Inpatient Pharmacy and Outpatient Pharmacy, between the Vancouver Division and Portland campuses and between other Clinical Care Service Lines.
The incumbent has responsibility for day-to-day maintenance and operation of pharmacy equipment and automation and utilizes available reporting functions to help adjust automation inventories to gain peak automation performance.
The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor promotes a safe, clean working environment by proactively identifying potential safety hazards within the workplace and initiating appropriate work orders. The Incumbent addresses safety issues on a continual basis with the staff and performs other duties as assigned.

- Graduate of a Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy.
- Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States.
Preferred Experience: Preferred candidate will have Supervisory experience, however VA Pharmacy experience is recommended but not required.

Responsible for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution. Such individuals have responsibilities for supervising multiple pharmacists and technicians. Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facilitys mission and goals. Develops performance standards, assures that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities. Develops policies and procedures relative to their assigned area. Pharmacists assigned to this position must demonstrate the following KSAs:
a. Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff.
b. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
c. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy.
d. Skill in managing people or programs.
