About the Position:
This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance and is the world's largest helicopters overhaul and repair facility. CCAD serves as the depot training base for active duty Army, National Guard, Reserve and foreign military personnel. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting

You will inspect tools against drawings and specifications. Measure and verify tooling meets dimensional specifications for aircraft and aircraft component production. Interpret complex computer programming for Coordinated Computer Aided Measuring Machines and Program Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathes and mills with g-code programming and Computer Aided Design (CAD)/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software to determine proper procedures.  Inspect components and gauges for conformance to drawings and specifications. Check for diameters, radii, angles, hole locations, positional locations, threads (pitch, major, minor, flank angle, lead), lengths, widths, concentricity's, datum points, finishes, and material hardness by direct measurements and computations. Compute dimensions for any given thread pitch. Interpret and analyze programs for computerized measuring machines. Inspect production tooling and machined parts, providing recommendations on the setup of inspection gauges and on corrective action. Fabricate production type gauges such as snap, plug, flush pin, ring, thread, as well as special purpose gauges consisting of a large number of component parts.

Your resume must indicate your ability to inspect.  I have performed journeyman level work to set up and operate machines of the machinist trade in order to fabricate tools. I have experience working with the physical properties of numerous metals, metal alloys, plastics, nylon, Teflon, etc. to choose the proper materials for specific items to be made. I have provided technical direction and assistance in performing these tasks.  My resume reflects current or past experience performing these tasks. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provide skills and knowledge of (1) operation of machine tools; (2) technical practices; (theorical, precise, artistic); (3) ability to use shop drawings; (4) measurement and layout; (5) ability to use hand tools for machine shop; and (6) knowledge of metals.

Requires long period of standing and walking.  Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and also items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Assistance with the larger, awkward items is available.

Work is performed inside a shop area. Exposed to machine shop noise. Subject to electrical shock from operating test stands, cuts and abrasions from handling items during inspections. Requires wearing safety shoes and glasses. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the work.
