This position is located within the Communications Department at Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group located at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.  The primary goal of this position is to provide Navy Marine Corps Intranet, Next Generation, and future Department of Defense/Navy efforts in Information Management and Information Technology services for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE.

As an IT Specialist (INTERNET), your duties will include, but are not limited to: 

·        Act as the primary command representative/liaison involving the contractual aspects of all Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI)/Next Generation (NGEN) needs.

·        Review, validate, and provide change recommendations to existing policy governing the management of the NMCI/NGEN programs.

·        Apply configuration management disciplines to formally document functional and physical characteristics of a system network, or product during its life cycle.

·        Plan, design, develop, acquire, operate, and support the life-cycle of standardized automated systems and information/data transfer and exchange.

·        Provide in-depth analysis in specialty areas such as system networks and electronic information transfer, where technology is evolving at a rapid pace.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.  Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Providing Intranet/Network support by analyzing, managing, documenting, and maintaining or modifying delivery and implementation.


Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree


Individuals must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.


1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
