The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) team makes historical materials available for use to support the U.S. Army, educate an international audience, and honor Soldiers - past and present.

Incumbent serves as an Archives and Digitization Technician performing non-professional and technical work primarily in arranging, describing and digitizing archival, non-current records and related material kept in USAHEC's manuscript repository. The work requires the application of practical or technical knowledge of archival and digitization methods, procedures and techniques.

Incumbent is responsible for or performs a wide variety of public service duties: circulation, reference/reader's advisory, database searching, collection maintenance, programming, marketing, displays/publicity, interlibrary loans, reserves; and/or a wide variety of technical service duties: cataloging/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing/accounting for and de-acquisitioning of library materials, shelf inventories; and/or a wide variety of systems application and maintenance which may include standard office software, basic Integrated Library System and PC management. Performs selected administrative management duties to include ensuring internal controls are in place in public services and/or technical services. May manage a branch library or serve as a lead departmental library technician. Trains others in the performance of library technician duties. Incumbent is responsible for organizing, arranging, describing, inventorying, digitizing and preparing finding aids within prescribed formats and established processes of archival-materials related to Omar Bradley and those soldiers who served either with or under him that currently held within USAHEC's archival holdings. The methods, practices and procedures, although standardized, are not always directly applicable, requiring the incumbent to make adjustments and take alternative course of actions. The incumbent will need to obtain and move: boxes, files and associated holdings within and between buildings; utilize a variety of imagining equipment with the prescribed standards set forth by USAHEC and assist in the creation and development of the Omar Bradley Digital Archive. Perform other duties as assigned.

Two years of specialized experience (Archives Technician) at the next lower grade.


Four years of education above High School.


A combination of specialized experience and education that equated to 100% of the qualification requirements.

Conditions of employment:

3. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification check. 

4. Successfully complete all required background checks.
