MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible position as required by TPR 303. Although conditions of employment, such as grade/rank restrictions, medical, technician compatibility, etc., are not used to determine an applicant's eligibility to apply for a position, the applicant must meet the conditions prior to appointment in the position.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is restricted to current, on-board technician with 186th ARW, 238th ASOS or 248th ATCS of the Mississippi Air National Guard.

Due to the Fiscal Year (FY) 14 appropriation, or continuing resolution for the Department of Defense, this position may be subject to furlough.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position is located in an ANG Aviation Wing, Air Support Operation Group (ASOG) Air Support Operations Squadron (ASOS) and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Missions Systems Branch. The purpose of this position is to configure, deploy, install, operate, optimize, maintain, modify, and recover various types of tactical and non-tactical communications transmission systems and their components.   Performs duties necessary to accomplish communications functions and provide for customer support of programs essential to Squadron daily operations, training, and readiness missions.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. 

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Applicant must possess 18 months of e xperience or trainingin utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment.  Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs formal functions in electronic equipment or systems.   Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.   Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.  Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

 

NOTE:   Your application must contain a descriptionof both civilian and military experience as it relates to the general andspecialized experience requirements.

 

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.  You must provide proof with application of eligibility to hold appropriate military grade.

Compatible Military Assignments: 3D1X2 or 3D1X3


SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for six (6) months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.

NOTE: Copies of transcripts, certificate of training, etc., must be submitted in application package for substitution to be considered.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Permanent Change of Station Expenses: No PCS will be authorized.
