About the Position:

The Dredge Potter is a large dustpan that works at various locations on the Upper and Lower Mississippi Rivers, the lower Ohio River, and lower Illinois River. We work to keep these rivers navigable for commercial traffic. We dredge the river bottom where the sand & silt build shoals, out into the river that reduces the depth of the river channel, causing towboats to run aground & break-up their tows. There are two lounges with satellite T.V. and computers with satellite internet connections on board. We work 12-hour shifts; on a 7 days on/4 days off, then 7 days on/3 days off rotating schedule; with mandatory overtime during the dredging season. We normally work four 10-hour days [Mon. through Thurs.] during the lay-up repair season.
