This is NOT a full level journeyman position. The objective of Western's CIT program is to recruit journeyman-level craftsmen with knowledge and experience that is relevant, but less than required at the journeyman level for this occupation in Western.
 
Where will I be on the pay scale?
Trainees will be compensated at a progressively increasing percentage of the basic wage rate paid to the journeyman, who is engaged in the same trade at the same field location.  An employee entering the program with a 2-year requirement receives 90% of journeyman wages for the craft being entered and is eligible for a 2.5% increase every 6 months.  If an employee is placed at a step with less than 2 years to complete (minimum of six months), the employee will receive wages commensurate with that step.
 
Craftsman-in Training pay rates:
Step 1 - $ 36.00 per hour
Step 2 - $ 37.00 per hour
Step 3 - $ 38.00 per hour
Step 4 - $ 39.00 per hour
 
Journeyman Electrician pay rate is $40.00 per hour.

The Craftsman-in-Training Program is designed to train, appraise, and develop craftsmen as they progress through various stages of an occupation to become fully competent journeymen. The standard length of time in the program for each trainee is two (2) years.  The 2-year program consists of four levels, with 6 months  at each level.
 
At the Full Performance Level: Install, construct, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in high voltage switchyards, substations, communication facilities and power operations centers.
