This position is located in the Patient Administration Division, Medical Records Administration Branch, USAMEDDAC, Fort Stewart, GA. The incumbent performs a variety of technically complex duties to review and analyze ambulatory medical data, code medical diagnoses and procedures, and provides assistance to the professional staff. The work requires an extensive knowledge of ambulatory coding, accreditation references and complex medical terminology, anatomy and physiology in addition to an overall knowledge of DoD and Army medical regulations. Assures the final diagnoses and operative procedures as stated by the physician are valid and complete. Abstracts all necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co-morbid conditions. The incumbent determines the final diagnoses and procedures stated by the physician or other health care providers are valid and complete.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  Specialized experience is defined as: work that involves medical records coding, auditing coded records, and knowledge of complex medical terminology.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Ability to Code Medical Records
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

6. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA);

7. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
