This position is located in the Paint Shop, Services Group, Industrial Department of the U.S. Coast Guard in Baltimore, MD.
The incumbent performs all kinds of skilled journeyman marine painting tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul and conversion for a wide variety of types and sizes of Coast Guard marine craft and vessels.
Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
- Setting up, adjusting and operating spray painting equipment, hand power tools, and surface cleaning equipment
- Preparing metal marine surfaces for painting by sandblasting, pressure washing, and by removing grease, old paint, rust, etc.
- Painting surfaces with various types of paints, epoxies, enamels and marine coatings using brush/roller and spray applications
- Assisting sandblasters and fiberglass workers with their method of applications when needed.
