JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

No referral lists will be issued from this announcement.     Duties may include some or all of the following: Serves as a professional pharmacist in an in-patient or out-patient pharmacies. The work typically involves the compounding of prescriptions of physicians, dentists, and other licensed practitioners; the formulation, preparation, bulk compounding, selection, dispensing and preservation of drugs, medicines, and chemicals; research and investigation in developing special vehicles or variations of standard formulas to meet the needs of individual patients and in developing original techniques of compounding and making available for use new investigational drugs; advising on drug therapy and usage; or performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work concerning the administration of a pharmacy program for hospital, clinic, or other medical care facility. Some positions may involve the evaluation and surveillance of marketed drugs for safety and efficiency.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Successful completion of at least a four-year bachelor degree in pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

    For GS-09: Successful completion of a 5-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school, or 1 year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-7.
    For GS-11: Successful completion of a 6-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education, OR 1 year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-9.
    For GS-12: One year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-11.
    For GS-13: and above: One year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

  • Licensure/Certification: All applicants must be currently licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

  • Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.   • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of employment for certain Civilian positions identified as Critical under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program) requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Successful completion of a pre-placement physical examination may be required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Position may be designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • If selected, official college or university transcript must be submitted.
  • Selected applicant must provide documents for credentialing.
