JOB SUMMARY:

Type of Appointment: This is a Career/Career-Conditional Appointment [This is a full-time, non-dual status (competitive), permanent position and does not require National Guard Membership].  

 

This position is located at the Joint Forces Headquarters (New York), Manpower and Personnel Directorate, Support Programs Division in Latham, New York.  The purpose of this position if to plan, develop and direct the Family Program for National Guard and Reserve members and their families.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Under 5 USC 2108 & 5 CFR 211, Veteran's Preference criteria do not apply.
  • Reference Title 32 USC 709 & National Guard Technician Act for competitive
  • and excepted employees.
  • Only experience gained by closing date of this position will be considered

  • Serve as the Joint Force Headquarters advisor to the Adjutant General on family readiness, quality of life and other Family Program matters;
  • Serve as the policy advisor to the Adjutant General in the development/implementation of work/life services and activities;
  • Initiate, prepare and implement policy and guidance on assigned programs;
  • Identify, plan and direct family readiness, mobilization, and deployment priorities based on mission requirements;
  • Oversee all budget aspects for the Family Program;

In order to qualify for Family Program Specialist, GS-0301-12, you must meet the following:

Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, implementing, directing and evaluating family or social service programs; developing policy and guidance on work/life services/programs; providing support and services to families using a variety of state or local resources and networks; providing or coordinating well-being and life skills education and training for families and advising managers on family or social service programs.


Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
